So far you have learned how to:
  • deal with the fear of FAILING
  • deal with the fear of the UNKNOWN
Now it's time for the final part of our FEAR busting BRAVERY mission: deal with FEAR itself.
And there is only one way to do that: systematic DESENSITISATION.
Which means facing it until you recognise it for what it is: a feeling created by your thinking in the moment.
The key is to get comfortable with feeling it and still take action.
That way it will no longer bother you.
So, how do you 'feel the fear and do it anyway'?

We've found an absolutely brilliant way to do this- a method developed by Mel Robbins (here is a cool video explaining it).
It's super easy too, all you do it count down from 5 to 1 in your head and then when you reach 1, you just GO and do whatever it is that you need to do:

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... GO

and just DO IT.

no time to think

Putting decisions off often just make things worse.
We tend to build things up in our mind to be worse than they actually are (the bark is worse than the bite).
This has actually been proven.
A series of blood tests performed on soldiers in difficult and stressful situations showed that the body is stressed by the perceived, not actual, difficulty of the situation.
Which means that we are more stressed by the thought of doing something when we are actually doing it.
Which is why 5,4,3,2,1 GO , is so brilliant: it doesn't give you time to think.
