day 14: review the week

"March on. Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward perfection.

March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life's path."

-Khalil Gibran

the weekly review

Using CHARACTER STRENGTHS as the lens through which we do a lot of our parenting has made a tremendous difference to our family life. we feel more positive, our approach is more positive and our kids have responded to this; they feel more positive and have a much more positive view about who they are and what they are capable of.

As with anything new, it takes a while and some effort to get used to it and to make it habitual. With that in mind, we have a character strength based review for you this week, here's the VIA character strengths list and definitions for your reference for this review.

Your review questions:

  • Which character strengths did you use this week? Write down what happened and how you felt when you used it.
  • Which character strength would you like to use more of? Brainstorm 10 ways that you could use it more next week. Look at this least each morning when you use your daily planner.

Your review activity:

  • Write a note to your child and tell them how impressed with them and how proud of them you have been this week. Use  the character strengths praise mechanism you learned on DAY 4. See if you can come up with 2 or 3 examples and explain why you are impressed. Write these down in the same book you used last week and then sit down with them and read it.
  • Help your child to discover more about their character strengths with this exercise. Make sure that you have a copy of their character strength report to hand and sit down with them to do it together.
