“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

Contrary to legend, Jordan wasn’t cut from his high school team. He was placed on the junior varsity team instead.

You will often hear people say 'never give up', and that is an important attitude to have in life but... you have to be SMART about it.

JK Rowling didn't just wake up one morning and decide to try and get a book published, instead:

  • she had studied english at senior school and the classics at university- she had a literary education
  • she wrote lots of stories as a child and had a short story published in her University's Journal
  • she also had some positive feedback on the first 3 chapters of the first HARRY POTTER novel

So whilst none of these factors could have predicted her incredible success, she was SMART about not giving up.

She wasn't trying to be a professional footballer, she was working on something that matched her education, skills, practice and experience, and importantly- she received FEEDBACK on her work.
